Watch Case Size Guide
Measure your wrist, then judge a watch by lug to lug span rather than diameter. The case should not overhang the flat top of the wrist. Our cases are 28 mm, 30 mm, 41 mm and 42 mm.
Measure the wrist first
Use a soft tape measure, or the same paper strip trick that works for rings. Wrap it around the wrist just past the wrist bone, where the watch will actually sit, snug but not compressed. Mark the overlap, unwrap, and read the length in millimetres.
Write the number down. Every decision below refers back to it.
While you are there, notice the shape. Some wrists are round, some are flat and wide. A flat wrist carries a larger case comfortably. A round wrist makes the same case look bigger, because the lugs have less flat surface to rest on.
Lug to lug decides fit, not diameter
Lug to lug is the distance from the tip of the top lugs to the tip of the bottom lugs. That is the span the watch needs on your wrist. If it is longer than the flat part of your wrist, the lugs lift, the watch rocks, and it looks borrowed no matter what the diameter says.
Case diameter measures the case across, usually without the crown. It is easy to publish and easy to compare, which is why it is the number on every spec sheet.
Thickness is the second number that matters more than it is given credit for. A thick case catches on cuffs and sits high, and two watches with the same diameter can wear completely differently if one is 8 mm deep and the other is 13 mm.
We do not publish a wrist circumference chart that maps a measurement to a case size. Any such chart has to ignore lug to lug and wrist shape, which are the two things doing most of the work, and it would give you a false sense of precision.

The men's range is narrow by design: 41 mm and 42 mm, nothing else. Within 42 mm the real difference is depth. A Zolten at 8 mm and a Caelus at 9 mm slide under a cuff. The chronographs and the automatic sit at 10 mm and wear noticeably more present, because a chronograph needs room for its sub dials and an automatic needs room for its rotor.
The women's watches are a different proposition. The Lumiere at 28 mm and 78 g and the Velisse at 30 mm and 85 g are built to read as jewellery rather than as instruments.
Weight is part of fit
Weight decides whether you forget you are wearing the watch. A steel bracelet watch is heavier than a leather strap watch of the same size, and the spread across our range runs from 78 g to 145 g.
Neither end is better. Some people want the reassurance of weight. If you do not, the thinner three hand cases are the ones to look at.
The bracelet matters as much as the case
A correctly sized bracelet does more for how a watch looks than two millimetres of diameter. A loose bracelet lets the case slide round to the side of the wrist, where it looks too big whatever it measures.
Every watch arrives on an interchangeable 316L stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp, set in full length. Links can be removed with the watch tool included free in the box, and the specification on every model says the same thing: fits all wrists. Size the bracelet so the watch stays on top of the wrist and you can still get a finger under the clasp.
A short checklist before you decide
- Measure your wrist and keep the number.
- Check lug to lug against the flat top of your wrist, not diameter against a chart.
- Read the thickness. It decides how the watch behaves under a sleeve.
- Read the weight. It decides whether you wear it daily.
- Plan to size the bracelet when it arrives. The tool comes with it.
If the watch is wrong on the wrist
A watch either sits right or it does not, and you only know when it is on. You have 60 days from delivery to return one under our voluntary policy, and the statutory 14 day right of withdrawal applies in the EU, EEA, UK and Turkey on top of that.
For a watch to go back it must be unworn and unused, with the protective film intact, the movement not started, and everything complete in the original packaging. Email support@atoliovegas.de with your order number and we reply within 24 hours. Return shipping is paid by you unless the piece has a manufacturing defect or a recognised warranty claim. Watches carry a 24 month warranty from delivery on parts and workmanship under normal use, with statutory rights applying independently.
